A TEAM-BASED APPROACH
“They are always there, always ready to help, and they really listen to us and our input for how to make their solutions and our relationship even better.”
—Patreace McGee, Chief Deputy, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana
EVANGELINE PARISH: At a glance
Named after the Acadian heroine of the poem “Evangeline” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Evangeline is a hub for Cajun tradition.
CHALLENGE: Securing the memory of a county
From the time she began working in the Clerk of Court’s office in 1983, Patreace McGee was keenly aware of the office’s role in preserving the historical archive of the parish. “When I started, microfiche was about the only reliable solution we had for permanently preserving our delicate book and page records,” she said. When the office began working with Cott Systems, that all changed. “We have scanned in a lot of our historical past, and now going forward we have no need for paper-based systems of record.” The parish now uses Resolution3 and Verdict from Cott Systems for records and case management.
SOLUTION: A team-based approach
During Patreace’s time working in the office, her relationship with Cott Systems’ has grown and matured. “Our office handles civil and criminal records, along with land records sales, marriage licenses, and birth certificates. Over the years working with the Cott team, we’ve been able to scan and enter our records into a database that is searchable and user friendly. It has been a huge task, but the Cott team has been there for us every step of the way,” she said.
RESULTS: A relationship built to last
Patreace said, “When my boss was elected, a lot of companies called on our office to change our provider. When my boss asked for my input, I told him to stick with Cott Systems.” She continued, “They are always there, always ready to help, and they really listen to us and our input for how to make their solutions and our relationship even better.”
